Kathy Kuhmerker

Kathy joined The Lewin Group in 2008. Kathy will play a key role in the Group’s state health consulting work. As Director of New York State’s $46 billion Medicaid program, Kathy developed innovations that helped reduce fraud, waste, and abuse; began a formulation to rebalance New York’s long-term care system; oversaw the multiyear design and installation of the new Medicaid claims payment and management information system; managed the program’s response to the 9/11 World Trade Center attack; and saw the successful implementation of the Family Health Plus program for low-income adults. Kathy had previously managed health, housing, transportation, debt management, and bonding projects for the New York State Division of the Budget. Most recently, Kathy was a Vice President at Affiliated Computer Services, where she combined her health care expertise with information technology to develop and enhance programs to improve health care delivery, quality, and management. Kathy received a Masters of Business Administration in Health Systems Administration from Union College.
