Senior Research Analyst:

Senior Research Analysts assist with consulting projects by performing research and analysis to support Lewin’s consulting work, with clients including federal agencies, state governments, health plans, associations, foundations and hospital and health systems. You will be part of a team where you will have exposure to subject matter experts and work on important policy issues. Projects typically include qualitative and quantitative analysis on large, complex data sets from a variety of sources.

Duties include:

  • Collecting, compiling, verifying, and analyzing data
  • Conducting literature reviews and writing sections of proposals and research grants.
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Preparing information for client on-site visits and calls
  • Scheduling and coordinating projects
  • Contributing to reports and proposals
  • Assisting with business development

As you gain more tenure in the position, you may be asked to provide supervision to less experienced staff. The Senior Research Analyst role is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates with strong problem solving and analytical skills. Candidates for this level of opportunity should possess a bachelors degree with coursework and/or internships in health care policy, economics and/or management and an excellent academic record and strong interest to work within the health care or human services industries.

Research Consultant:

Research Consultants perform a variety of research and analysis aligned to Lewin’s consulting work with clients, including federal agencies, state governments, health plans, associations, foundations, and hospital and health systems. In this role, you will be challenged by assignments that are complex and where there is latitude for independent action and decision-making. Research Consultants typically act as a mentor, providing training and guidance to less experienced staff and continually developing technical expertise in a substantive field while developing project and budgetary management skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing a variety of research and consulting-related tasks, including review and analysis of data using standard practices, applying sound quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis techniques and methods
  • Conducting literature reviews and research for clients
  • Drafting reports, memos and information for client presentations
  • Participation in the proposal and business development process
  • Engaging in technical assistance projects, including providing direct assistance and training to agencies delivering services
  • Independent work on complex assignments
  • Providing training and guidance to less experienced staff and assisting with day-to-day management of project tasks and budgets
  • Reviewing the work of others
  • Managing time effectively across multiple projects, with several managers and competing priorities

Candidates should possess a masters degree in public policy, public health, public administration, economics, health administration or related field and/or related internship experience. Previous consulting experience is highly preferred.

Consultant:

Consultants at The Lewin Group lead and coordinate complex components of large consulting projects, with responsibility for the application of advanced methods and techniques in a particular field of specialization, federal health, federal human services, states, payers, etc. You will collaborate with a team of quantitative specialists, including applications programmers, to design and develop questionnaires, instruments, and databases, and assume significant levels of responsibility on a diverse range of projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading efforts to collect, analyze, and summarize qualitative and quantitative data and findings into concise, readily usable reports and presentations
  • Leading, with appropriate support, the design and implementation of evaluation and assessment projects (e.g., survey development, conducting stakeholder interviews, focus groups, site visits) and summarizing results
  • Preparing and facilitating productive and compelling meetings with multiple stakeholders, including client meetings
  • Leading significant tasks/activities related to the proposal process and business development efforts, including coordinating and reviewing the work of less senior staff, and troubleshooting problems or questions throughout the proposal process
  • Managing time effectively across multiple projects, with several managers and competing priorities

As a Consultant, your expertise will bring significant contributions to client projects. Candidates for this role should possess a minimum of a master’s degree plus 3-5 years of consulting or research experience, or a Ph.D. with a minimum 1-2 years of postgraduate experience.

Senior Consultant:

Senior Consultants at The Lewin Group must have a strong command of their field of specialization, bringing technical and managerial leadership to research projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to business development by identifying new business opportunities with existing clients and managing the proposal process, including lead generation, opportunity identification, proposal writing and client presentations
  • Directing and managing large projects, with responsibility for budget management, project deliverables, client relations and staff supervision, ensuring that all projects are conducted with sound methods and techniques
  • Designing and executing multiple quantitative and qualitative evaluation studies across multiple content areas
  • Managing and developing long-term client relationships, as evidenced by positive client feedback and client engagement with repeated business
  • Managing a large matrix team and aligning project responsibilities

Senior Consultant candidates should possess a graduate degree with a minimum of 7+ years of postgraduate subject matter expertise, or a Ph.D. with a minimum of 5 years of postgraduate experience designing and executing quantitative and qualitative evaluation studies. Senior consultants are typically national authorities with substantial expertise, including presentations and/or publications within their targeted area of concentration.

Associate Director or Managing Consultant:

Associate Directors and Managing Consultants have a strong command of their field of specialization, bringing technical and managerial leadership to research projects. You will create strategies for institutions, communities, associations, foundations governments, and people to make health care and human services systems more effective. Associate Directors and Managing Consultants provide objective advice, expertise, and specialist skills, with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth and/or improving the business performance of clients. Responsibilities include:

  • Directing and managing large projects, with responsibility for budget management, project deliverables/timelines, client relationships, and staff supervision, including the management of multiple direct reports
  • Addressing shifts in health care practice, technology, and regulation
  • Designing, conducting, and managing quantitative program evaluations for a variety of clients, ensuring all projects are conducted with sound methods and techniques.

Associate Directors and Managing Consultants offer a broad understanding of health policy issues, with the ability to work in multiple substantive areas. To be considered for these roles, you must have a graduate degree or Ph.D. and at least 7-12 years of relevant postgraduate research experience, including prior management experience.

Managing Director:

Managing Directors are accountable for developing new business, directing proposal efforts and managing client relationship activities, bringing industry expertise in their field. You will have responsibility for overseeing day-to-day management of projects and project staff, accountable for project financial performance, client satisfaction and staff development. Responsibilities include:

  • Directing and managing strategic new business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities
  • Representing the organization as a functional subject matter expert to advance new business development opportunities
  • Serving as the overall client lead for projects, ensuring that all projects are conducted with sound methods and techniques

To be considered for this role, you must have a master’s degree or Ph.D. with at least 12 years of research/relevant experience, including experience as a leader, business development, project management and planning.
