Laura A. Dummit
Laura brings over 25 years of policy analysis experience, focused on Medicare payment policies, health care markets, and health care spending. At The Lewin Group, Ms. Dummit is leading a multi-year investigation for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on approaches to coordinating care for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees, as well as providing policy direction on an analysis of Medicare-Medicaid enrollees’ health care use, spending, and health conditions. She has led engagements on Medicare Special Needs Plans, Accountable Care Organizations, Medicaid health plans, and home and community based services. Prior joining The Lewin Group, Ms. Dummit was the director for Medicare payment issues at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), where she testified before and reported to the Congress on prescription drug costs, skilled nursing facilities, geographic differences in providers' costs, and physician payment. Ms. Dummit was also the deputy director of the Prospective Payment Assessment Commission (now MedPAC). Ms. Dummit has also held positions with the Alpha Center for Health Planning, the National Health Policy Forum and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
